About Us
Enquyst Technologies was founded in 2017 in Lowell, MA by Dr. Jason Criscione, a serial inventor and entrepreneur in the life sciences whose expertise covers chemistry, biophysics, materials science, and biomedical engineering. Dr. Criscione started Enquyst to create disruptive technologies that could greatly improve the quality and economics of biotherapeutics.
Deriving inspiration from existing theory and industry knowledge, Enquyst designed its novel, modular process technologies from the collective perspectives of a biophysicist and a mechanical engineer that were offered a clean whiteboard. This novel design approach ultimately led to the development of its patented IPP technology which deploys only chemistry, physics, and fluid dynamics to elegantly solve a problem that has plagued the bioprocess sector for decades, “how to economically manufacture complex and diverse biomolecules with a high level of purity”.
Since its invention, the IPP technology has gone through several iterations, including the integration of Enquyst’s novel in-line process analytical technologies, in efforts to offer the industry a complete, integrated downstream process solution to enable continuous manufacturing and to provide the growing diversity of biotherapeutics a viable path to the clinic. Now at the end of its alpha phase of development, the IPP technology is being manufactured for its initial end users.
